Increase your energy for the Holidays

The holidays are here and although we have visions of joyful hours of time spent with our families and playing with our grandchildren, but when they come, our energy level seems to fizzle out. There are many natural remedies that will put the joy back into our lives as we prepare for the festivities ahead.

The”Power nap.”

Between work and holiday celebrations, rest seems out of the question. Subsequently our stress level is up and our energy level is almost non-existent. One quick fix for these periods of fatigue is a short nap. Science has proven that a short “power nap” can be beneficial, not only to restore depleted energy but will also improve our brain function. The consensus is that it only takes a 20-minute nap mid-morning or early afternoon to energize and get through the day. However, studies have shown that naps taken later in the day can interrupt sleep patterns.

Ginseng

Throughout history, Ginseng has been proven to restore energy and relieve stress. Although all varieties of Ginseng improve energy levels, Korean ginseng has proven to be the most effective. Professionals believe that this herb provides the nutrients necessary to a well-functioning adrenal system thus providing greater energy.

Natural Stimulants

Just a simple cup of coffee may be all you need as a pick-me-up to make it through the day. The caffeine found in coffee, or tea is good for a quick jolt of energy. The medical community now believes that too much caffeine may be detrimental to your health. Energy drinks, which have become a fad with young people contain excessive amounts of caffeine and are now being closely scrutinized by the medical community. In some instances, overuse of these popular drinks has caused serious medical problems.

Diet and Exercise

Although there are many supplements touted to increase energy, it has been proven that diet and exercise provide the greatest increase in energy. A proper diet increases your metabolism and provides the proper nutrients your organs need to run efficiently. While diet is important, exercise is equally important to keep higher energy levels. Exercise increases your muscle mass, increases blood flow and helps your body to burn calories and carbohydrates more efficiently to help increase energy levels.

There are many ways to increase energy levels that will make the holidays more enjoyable. Choosing the one that works best with your lifestyle may take a few minutes to implement, but will give you the energy to enjoy life to the fullest.
